Wielding the Lyric

On Now It’s Dark

Peter’s new book is a capacious enactment of what is now classic Gizzi: to fashion a world of thinking and feeling by wielding the lyric in its most potent form, which is to me akin to the guitar solo. In this way, Peter’s work is the sonic quest of relentless wonder and bewilderment before an ever degrading human schema. It might be dark now, as the title says, but reading it, we are nothing if not filled with light.
